Well after a few hard days driving the bike i finely made it to Puri. It is a nice beach resort kind of place . Just what the doctor order to get my butt back in shape for the rest of my journey. Yesterday was a long day . I began my day pushing my Enfield to the mechanic. The problem dated back to the day before when i was driving. My Enfield started losing power and it ended up stalling in a village. I knew right away it was a electrical problem, but i also knew this was going to be hard to get it fix. Indian mechanic are real good at anything mechanical, but electrical they become more or less lucky witch doctor ... So if i was going to leave this village i had to hope for a small miracle.. So i when to the local small temple .... Ok, so i did not , but maybe i will next time. After a few hours of guess work and useless try and error , my mechanic go the bike working ... Thank, Shiva, Ganesh and all the rest ... I was again on my way.... I was already getting dark and i wanted to find lodging fast.... Well , 3km later the Enfield electrical system when dead again... Fu$%#$@%$%#$k Shiva !!!! ... Now , it was dark and i was still 20 some km away ... I knew that i could drive for a bit if i could save my battery , so i waited for a bus to pass and follow it ... After a few minutes on the road i close all the electric except for the parking light... I could follow it safely form a distance , even in the dark i could easily make it out and follow it. But then after about 10 km the battery died and now i had no choice but to push my bike... So i did just that for 4km... Maybe the gods had listen to me because a real nice India man stop and asked me if he could help... So he help me the best he could ... I was now riding behind him on my Enfield holding on to a rope ! ... I felled a bit funny ... It made me think about when i was a teenager snowboarding behind my parents pickup in the Quebec country side... Funny what you think of when you are being drag around on a Enfield in India
.... I finely made it safe to a hotel and needless to say i got to sleep pretty fast !... So getting back to me pushing my Enfield this morning . I found a real good Enfield mechanic in the town i was in , not only did he find the problem, but also manage to adjust the timing... So now the Bike is fix and i get a amazing 43Km/liter on the bike ... I use to make 37km/liter before , witch i was pretty happy about (my Enfield is 20 years old) but now 43 .... WOW !!!
So now after driving more then 1500 km in a week i take a few day of well deserved brake. I will write back most likely in a few day after getting to Kalcutta
