Bon Alex et moi ont a fait un blitz ... Il y a 73 nouvelles photos du voilier

First , i like to say i love my new Aspire one (d250) .... As soon as i got home with it i hurried back home to install ubuntu 9.04 ! And it worked perfectly right out of the box ... But then ! I decided to install World of Warcraft (using wine) . I play wow with my desktop in Linux for year without problems . So i was thinking , it will also work with the aspire one . Hmmm, not really ! I got the game to start and all but it was unplayable . So , after many , many try and recompiling kernel's and trying to fix the intel driver , nothing worked ...

I don't use windows , but i really wanted to play wow with my new aspire , so i reluctantly decide to install windows and use dual boot . Sound's easy , right ? ... Well , not so much . First i never made a recovery usb key when i first got the acer , i did not even boot windows , i when directly to Linux .

So the first step was to order the recovery disk form Acer for 20$ ... Hmm, pretty stiff price for something i thought was doing to be in the box , but since ( i admit) i did not look first or made the usb disk i got the disk and did not say a word about it . 5 days later it got to my house ! i was happy to open the package ... But was soon very angry to find out that the 3 DVD they send me where made only to be use with a external DVD drive ... I scream a few not so nice word in the general direction of Acer ... How can you send a recovery DVD that does not make a usb key recovery for a machine that does not have a DVD drive is something i clearly dont understand .... I was piss of !!! . So i took a talk to my corner hardware store to see how much was a external drive .... 58$ .... I could not beleave that Acer solution was to get the customer to pay 58$ for a external drive !!! ARGGG!!! So after thinking about it , there is how i solve my problem , without having to spend the extra money !

1- I open my acer to discover it was a sata drive (i have the 160g one)

2- I open my desktop ( witch as also a sata drive)

3- I unplug my sata drive (from the desktop) and plug the acer sata drive

4- I used a ubuntu live cd to boot and to partition my hard drive (using gparted) . (50g for windows (fat), 512 linux swap , 30G for /, and the rest (about 80G) for /home)

5- I rebooted

6- I used Acer recovery disk to install on the fat partition (not worry about the change in size... )

7- Reinstall my hard drive in the Acer

8- Now that is the important part ... If you try to boot the machine , it will give you a error 17 (or something like that ) . But it not a problem because grub will fix that

9- I made a usb pen drive installation of ubuntu 9.04 (dont use 8.10 because network will not work) If you are looking how to create a bootable pen drive i strongly suggest using unetboot It is really and amazing tool !

10- install ubuntu (making sure i dont erase my windows (now a ntfs partition) )

11- Voila , you can now use the Acer in dual boot .

I install later WOW and it played really well (have to but the graphique detail down a bit) but now i can work using Linux and play WOW . Aldo if ever i can get wow to work in linux on the Acer , windows will be the first thing to go !!!!

Ps i made the very small guide for people used to Linux and hardware . If many people need i can maybe do a longer and more detail version . Other wise you are welcome to write

Je viens de lire le blog de mon ami Michael pour réalisé que j`étais perdu... Je comprend comment c'est arrivé . Je suis partie pendant un an et je n'ai rien suivis de l'actualité et très peu de gens mon écris pour me dire comment la société a laquelle j'appartiens a changé , ce qui c'est passé politiquement ou en quoi les conditions sociales ont changé ou évolué . Ok , vous allez dire que c'est normal , mais ça me fait simplement pensé comment j'ai une grosse adaptation a faire a mon retour. Premièrement je commence une formation de mécano , deuxièmement je retourne dans des boites remplie de souvenir d'une vie que j'ai volontairement laisser pendant un an et dernièrement j'ai a mettre en pratique que j'ai appris pendant mon absence. J'ai bien hâte à mon retour mais je vous avertie que j'aurais beaucoup de question et surement encore besoin d'aide ...

Bon et bien après un ans en dehors de la mère patrie je suis heureux de vous apprendre que je vais être de retour a Montréal vendredi le 28 septembre vers 18h Je vais allez prendre une bière bien mérité au Vice Versa vers les 22h30 pour ceux qui voudrais me dire bonjour ... A bientôt !!!

Ok, ok ... To all the woman that fell devastated by the title, i have only one thing to say " Calm down before diving off some bridge or jumping in front of a metro ! :P " ... As you know , my mother as come to travel the last month with me in India ... She is taking to India like a fish in water "Gracefully but not without a splash " ... So for the past 11 days i have been enjoying here company greatly except for one small detail . All the India and even one Europeen keep asking me if we are been together for long or why a married couple are taking 2 rooms .... ... Ok , so on one hand it is a very sweet thing to say to my mother ... It was even funny the first time ... and the seconde time ... But, after 12 days of it !!!! ... It makes me wonder ... Do i look so old , is it only my bear or is it my mother charming looks ??? Even if i get a few email from friends telling me it is a cultural thing and that of course i still look fabulous , cute and adorable .... I can still ear you gigilling all the way from India
